Gastric Sleeve

Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy operation that is gaining in popularity worldwide involves cutting the stomach vertically and removing 80% or more of it to form a narrow vertical, banana-shaped gastric tube or sleeve. The laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy causes weight loss primarily by restricting the amount of food the stomach can hold.  Weight loss is also believed to occur with the surgery because the portion of the stomach that produces an appetite-stimulating hormone is removed.
