Patient Spotlight: Constance’s Journey to Wellness

When Constance began physical therapy at Holy Cross Health in December, she was facing persistent balance issues and a slow recovery. Her outlook changed when she was paired with Juliana, a Physical Therapist at the newly renovated Jon & Helaine Ayers Rehabilitation Center.

With access to advanced equipment made possible through philanthropic support, including a state-of-the-art treadmill and immersive virtual reality tools, Constance’s therapy sessions became both challenging and transformative. Each visit brought something new, helping her rebuild strength and confidence in ways she never expected.

Juliana’s care extended beyond the clinic. She encouraged Constance to try aquatic therapy at her community pool and suggested she visit specialists to explore possible causes of her balance issues. Thanks to Juliana’s insight, Constance discovered that her vision and inner ear were contributing factors. New glasses and targeted treatment brought noticeable improvements. 

Juliana even joined Constance at the Holy Cross gym to collaborate with her personal trainer, ensuring her workouts supported her rehabilitation goals. This level of coordination and compassion reflects the spirit of the Healing Heroes program, which honors caregivers who make a lasting impact through their care. 

Today, Constance feels like a new person. Her physical progress is measurable, but the emotional renewal she experienced is beyond calculation. She credits the expert care she received and the innovative resources at the Ayers Rehabilitation Center for helping her reclaim her independence. 

“I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to work with Juliana,” Constance shared. “She exemplifies kindness, patience and toughness when needed. Her dedication made me believe I could get better, and I did.”
