Fort Lauderdale, Florida (December 8, 2025) Holy Cross Health marks its 70th anniversary today, honoring a history that began in 1955 when the Sisters of Mercy established a hospital grounded in dignity, respect and faith-based healing. From its earliest days, Holy Cross Health has focused on providing dependable, compassionate care, a commitment that continues to guide the health system today. What started as a small, community hospital has grown into a trusted regional resource for patients and families across South Florida.

As the surrounding community grew, Holy Cross Health expanded its services and facilities to meet the needs of patients. New clinical programs, updated facilities and evolving patient needs shaped decades of growth that helped build the strong foundation the organization stands on today.

Community support has long played a role in that progress. Philanthropic gifts, volunteer service and partnerships have helped bring new capabilities to patients and strengthened many programs. This shared commitment reflects the spirit of building excellence together, a value that continues to guide how Holy Cross Health approaches its work.

Today, the hospital continues to evolve to meet the needs of its patients. Recent developments include the opening of the Family Health Center in Oakland Park, which brings multiple services into one coordinated space, and the Jon and Helaine Ayers Rehabilitation Center, which supports recovery and independence. The Pompano Beach Urgent Care Center provides convenient care for non-emergency needs, and a new freestanding emergency department in Deerfield Beach is now under construction. When completed, it will expand emergency care access for northern Broward County.

Colleagues remain central to Holy Cross Health’s mission. Nurses, physicians, therapists, technicians, support staff and volunteers create a culture that places patients at the center of every decision. Their dedication earned national recognition in 2025 when Forbes named the Holy Cross one of America’s Best Employers for Healthcare Professionals.

“Seventy years of service reflects the trust our community has placed in us,” said Pierre Monice, MBA, FACHE, President and Chief Executive Officer at Holy Cross Health. “This milestone honors the generosity, dedication and partnership of our colleagues and community. Every day, that trust is reflected in the compassion and teamwork our colleagues bring to patient care. It is a reminder of where we began, what we have built together and the legacy we carry as we continue serving our patients and neighbors.”

As Holy Cross Health begins its next chapter, the team remains focused on strengthening patient care, supporting its workforce and fostering partnerships that help build healthier communities.
