To our LGBTQIA+ friends and allies,
We at Holy Cross Health wish you all a very Happy Pride Month!
It’s hard to believe that 50+ years ago, gay men and women could be arrested simply for being gay, but today we elevate and celebrate our gay community and their contributions on the path to equity and equality.
Here at Holy Cross we are celebrating Pride with an art exhibition in partnership with ArtServe. The exhibition titled “Seasons of Life” is the first in a quarterly series of exhibitions by female artists in South Florida. The exhibition runs through August 19 and is a collection of paintings by MaiYap and Claudia Castillo who were selected for their extraordinary creativity and reflection of ArtServe’s commitment to providing exceptional art throughout Broward county. Each of these artists juxtaposes abstraction and composition, order and intuition, reason, randomness, portraying a diverse and yet parallel examination of identity and nature; and, a new way of looking at the world around us. I encourage everyone to see the exhibition currently on view at the Holy Cross Healthplex.
I’d also like to share the announcement of our new ONE Holy Cross program made possible with the Broward Pride grant and the support of the Board of Directors at the Community Foundation of Broward. The One Holy Cross program represents our commitment to delivering LGBTQIA+ friendly health care services to at least 500 patients. TransSocial will provide training for doctors, nurses and frontline health care. Also, SunServe will review all forms and procedures to be more inclusive and respectful to LGBTQIA+ patients. This program will improve the health, safety and well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals.
Thank you to the Community Foundation of Broward for making ONE Holy Cross possible, and we look forward to serving the LGBTQIA+ community this month and always.
Happy Pride!
