Holy Cross Hospital has received several donations totaling nearly one million dollars for COVID-19 relief, including donations to the Catherine McAuley Fund which provides direct and sufficient assistance to the non-profit hospital's employees and contractors for food, childcare, utilities and housing as a result of loss of income and employment due to COVID-19. The funding also provides for the most immediate intervention for those who are impacted by this unprecedented health crisis.

“We are so blessed to have the support of these generous donors, particularly during this unprecedented time,” said Doug Strong, interim President and CEO of Holy Cross Hospital. “Because of their generosity and passion, we continue to meet the changing healthcare needs in our community with a compassionate and transforming healing presence. We are also appreciative of all of our donors – big and small – including those who have made in-kind donations."

Recent donations have included:

  • A donation of $500,000 from the The Leandro P. Rizzuto Foundation, with $250,000 designated for the COVID-19 Response Fund and $250,000 for the renovation of the Cardiovascular Suite at Holy Cross.

  • The Harry T. Mangurian Jr. Foundation’s donation of $250,000 to support the hospital’s Fever Clinic in the Phil Smith Neuroscience Institute. The Fever Clinic is physically separate from the main hospital and has evolved into a drive-through COVID testing site for pre-surgical and pre-procedural patients.

  • Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth M. Czubay also generously donated $50,000 to support the hospital’s Fever Clinic.

  • The Salah Foundation’s contribution of $50,000 designated for the purchase of N-95 masks to accommodate critical hospital needs as a result of COVID-19.

  • In addition, The Jim Moran Foundation approved an emergency response grant in the amount of $100,000 and a $100,000 challenge grant to provide additional funding for the Catherine McAuley Fund with a minimum of 50% of the dollar-for-dollar challenge grant being allocated for COVID-19 response. Moved by the foundation’s generosity, on behalf of the Holy Cross Hospital Medical Staff, Dr. Jon A. Kotler, president, delivered a $50,000 check toward the match.
