Understanding Drug Abuse and Overdose

Drug abuse is a pressing issue that affects individuals and communities nationwide. Recognizing the signs of overdose is crucial to prevent tragedy. Common signs include:

      1. Slow or erratic breathing

      2. Unresponsiveness or unconsciousness

      3. Bluish or pale skin, especially lips and fingertips

      4. Pinpoint pupils

      5. Vomiting or gurgling noises

      6. Seizures

If you suspect someone is experiencing an overdose, follow these steps:

In Case of an Overdose:

      1. Stay Calm: Keep a clear head to respond effectively.

      2. Call for Help (911): Immediately dial 911 to get professional assistance.

      3. Provide Information: Share any necessary information about the symptoms or the drugs you suspect the person may have taken with the 911 operator.

      4. Check Responsiveness: Gently shake or tap the person and ask loudly if they are okay. Look for any signs of responsiveness.

      5. Perform First Aid: If the person is unresponsive or not breathing, consider administering CPR if trained.
