Research performed in conjunction with the Boston University Trauma department. Investigated expression levels of acute phase proteins and cytokine expression levels after traumatic injury in mice. This gives us insight into the severity of an injury and possible prognosis by tracking expression levels of these proteins. Abstract titled "Hepatic Acute Phase Response Reflects Pro-Inflammatory Cytokine Expression at the Site of Injury." Under the Department of Trauma, Department of Orthopaedics, Boston Medical Center. Preceptor: Louis Gerstenfeld, PhD and Peter Burke, MD (March 2005).

Basic Science using RNase Protection Assays (RPAs) to show how "Tumor Necrosis Factor Alpha (TNF-a) Coordinately Regulates the Expression of Specific Matrix Metalloproteinases (MMPS) and Angiogenic Factors During Fracture Healing." Under the Orthopaedic Research Laboratory, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Boston University Medical Center, Department of Trauma and Reconstructive Surgery, University Clinic Hamburg-Eppendorf, Hamburg, Germany, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, Seoul National University College of Medicine, Seoul, Korea, Department of Oral Biology, Boston University School of Dental Medicine. Preceptor: Louis Gerstenfeld, PhD, and Thomas Einhorn, MD (August 2004).

Masters thesis studying "Large-Scale Transcriptional Profiling Across the Time Course of Fracture Healing." In the Laboratory of Dr. Thomas Einhorn, Chairman of Orthopaedic Surgery Department at Boston Medical Center and Dr. Louis C. Gerstenfeld, Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery and Biochemistry at Boston University School of Medicine.
