ANNUAL CARDIOVASCULAR SYMPOSIUM
Target Audience: Holy Cross Hospital physicians, community physicians and other healthcare providers

The goal of this symposium, presented together with Massachusetts General Hospital Institute for Heart, Vascular and Stroke Care, is to update healthcare professionals each year on new and emerging approaches to the diagnosis, management and treatment of various forms of cardiovascular disease.

2012 - Latest updates on heart valve disease, atrial fibrillation, heart failure and screening for heart disease.
2013 - Comprehensive overview in the areas of heart valve disease, cardiac imaging, new techniques and devices and cardiac surgery.
2014  - Exploring the latest advances in cardiovascular and neurovascular medicine in stroke, carotid artery disease and peripheral artery disease.
2016 - Exploring latest advances in cardiac imaging, valvular and structural heart disease, congestive heart failure and current guidelines in cardiac oncology. 


ANNUAL WINTER ONCOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

Target Audience: Holy Cross Hospital physicians, community physicians and other healthcare providers

Our past symposiums, presented together with Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, provided a comprehensive update on the latest advances in many types of cancers:

2012 - Breast and lung cancers
2013 - Colorectal, kidney and bladder cancers
2014 - Benign and malignant hematologic disease, women’s cancers, genetics and survivorship
2015 - Lung cancer, genetic testing advances, survivorship care, addressing nutritional support, addressing anxiety and fatigue during and after treatments
2016 - Malignant hematology, head and neck cancer, neuro-oncology and melanoma  

By coming together to share insights and research, we help our patients grow stronger to make this fight against cancer a fight we can win.


ORTHOPEDIC SYMPOSIUM 

Target Audience: Orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses and research professionals associated with orthopedics. 

This symposium provides a comprehensive update on the latest advances of hip and knee replacements and revisions, debates thevalue of new technology and integration within the new paradigm of health care delivery and present advanced recovery and pain protocols.

STROKE SYMPOSIUM 
Target Audience: Holy Cross Hospital physicians, community physicians and other healthcare providers

Our AHCA Comprehensive Stroke Center provides an educational and networking forum twice a year to improve knowledge and interaction among Holy Cross Hospital physicians, community physicians and other stroke/neuro healthcare providers. 


MEDICAL GRAND ROUNDS
Target Audience:
Holy Cross Hospital physicians

Through weekly lectures, medical grand rounds seek to promote excellence and quality in clinical care. Grand rounds are an important teaching tool in helping physicians, residents, students and other healthcare professionals be introduced to the latest advances in medical care and provide updates that affect the practice of medicine.


CARDIOLOGY GRAND ROUNDS
Target Audience:
Holy Cross Hospital physicians

Requests by our growing Cardiology department for a forum to discuss case studies and best practice in an informal, interactive setting.  Due to the ever evolving emergence of new techniques, protocols and best practice regimens, a regularly scheduled series is offered to improve physician competence, performance and patient outcomes.

COMPLEX CARDIOVASCULAR CONFERENCE
Target Audience: Holy Cross Hospital physicians in the following specialties: Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Imaging, Cardiac surgery, Neurology and Neuro Interventional Radiology

As the fund of knowledge continues to expand for cardiac disease diagnosis and treatment, the creation of venues that facilitate multidisciplinary evaluations of complex patients helps to facilitate evidence-based, best practice care. The exchange of recent advances and professional opinions in an open forum will help Holy Cross Hospital physicians improve their competence and performance on current guidelines and best practices that contribute to cardiovascular care. This would involve a forum that includes Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology, Heart Failure, Interventional Radiology, Cardiac Imaging, Cardiac surgery, Neurology and Neuro Interventional Radiology physicians in the evaluation of complex cardiovascular patients.

MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM MEETINGS (MDT)
Target Audience: Holy Cross Hospital physicians

Multidisciplinary Team meetings (MDTs) are required for Holy Cross Hospital's certification as a Breast Center, as well as a national standard for all institutions that care for patients with various types of cancer. Due to the dynamic evolution in the basic science, detection and treatment of caner, a regularly scheduled series is designed to maintain and improve physician knowledge, competence and performance.

Presentation Methods: Case presentations with best practice methods/panel discussions, journal article review, and x-ray and chart reviews.

All Physicians licenses due January 31, 2017 should make sure they have taken a Prevention of Medical Errors course

☆The two hour Medical Errors course must be completed within 24 months of renewing your license

☆Two hours of a Domestic Violence course is required prior to every third license renewal or every six years

This activity has been approved for 4 AMA/PRA Category 1 Credits.  

A charge of $25 will be required from all non-Holy Cross Medical Staff Physicians
