At Holy Cross Health, Natasha Domond, Service Line Director for Holy Cross Medical Group – Primary Care, demonstrates how leadership grounded in empathy, collaboration and community focus strengthens patient care, supports teams and improves health outcomes across Broward County. 

Leadership in Health care

Natasha’s health care journey began over 14 years ago while attending Ohio State University, working part-time in the emergency department and urgent care at a local children’s hospital. “What began as a part-time job quickly transformed into a profound passion for me,” she recalls. 

Witnessing families reunite with loved ones after health challenges inspired her to focus on leadership. While clinical work was not her primary strength, Natasha found her calling in building teams that support collaboration, communication and compassionate care across Holy Cross Medical Group primary care locations, including Galt Ocean and Rio Vista. 

To Natasha, leadership is about creating a culture where colleagues feel valued, supported and empowered. “Many individuals come to work not only to fulfill their job responsibilities, but also to provide for their families. Given that colleagues often spend more time at work than at home, it is crucial to cultivate an atmosphere that uplifts and empowers them,” she explains. By being available, transparent and reliable, Natasha ensures her teams are equipped to provide consistent support to patients. This approach helps patients feel supported and cared for at every visit. 

Empowering Black Leaders in Health care 

Black History is a time to honor progress and reflect on the work that still lies ahead in health care. Natasha shares, “My experiences have shown me how vital it is to ensure diverse voices are represented in our teams and decision-making processes.”

This commitment helps her teams provide care that meets the unique needs of every patient, regardless of cultural background, economic situation or personal circumstances. By fostering mentorship, collaboration and clear communication, Natasha ensures colleagues are equipped to deliver care that is thoughtful, consistent and responsive to the communities they serve. 

Strengthening Primary Care Across Fort Lauderdale

Primary care is often the first-place patients turn when something does not feel right. It is about trust, conversation and having a partner in your health. Natasha sees this every day when patients are unsure about next steps and simply need someone to slow down, listen and walk through their care with them. 

“They may have received instructions, but what they truly need is someone who can sit down with them, listen and guide them through the process.” Those conversations help reduce uncertainty and make care easier to understand. By taking time to listen and explain, Natasha supports patients as they move through their care plan. 

It’s also where everyday health management happens. Routine checkups, vaccinations, lab work, blood pressure monitoring and conversations about ongoing concerns allows providers to spot patterns, adjust treatment plans and help manage long-term conditions like diabetes, heart disease or asthma before they become more serious.

Primary care also helps patients navigate a complicated health care system, connecting the dots between specialists, test results, medication and follow-up care so nothing important falls through the cracks.

Beyond the exam room, primary care supports the community through community-based outreach, wellness programs and preventative care initiatives. These efforts provide education and resources that empower patients and families in Fort Lauderdale to make healthier choices at home, at work and in their communities.
