Mr. LaPorte co-founded Dovere Advisory Group in October 2014 to guide early-stage operating growth companies, primarily in the medical device and healthcare sectors, in creating and sustaining value while reducing risk in the process. 

He co-founded MAKO Surgical Corp.(formerly NASDAQ:MAKO), an orthopedic surgical robotic company, in November 2004 and served as its Senior Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer from inception through December 2013, when it was acquired by Stryker Corporation. Mr. LaPorte subsequently served as Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Stryker Corporation – Stryker Mako Business Unit from December 2013 until June 2014 to assist in the integration of MAKO Surgical Corp. into Stryker Corporation.

Trained as a CPA, Mr. LaPorte began his career with Ernst & Young's audit healthcare practice. Subsequently, he served as Director of Finance for Holy Cross Health Ministries.

He earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Florida Atlantic University and brings 25 years of experience to the board. 

Since August 2015, Mr. LaPorte has served as a member of Venus Concepts' (Nasdaq: VERO) board of directors. Since October 2021, he has served on the board of directors of LAVA Acquisition Corp. (Nasdaq: LVACU), a special purpose acquisition company targeting the medical technology sector.

Mr. LaPorte has continued his lifelong passion for teaching youth and the sport of soccer by coaching local youth soccer programs.

He serves on the Executive, Finance, Philanthropy/Advancement, and Strategic Planning committees.
