Washington DC – August 2016 – Holy Cross Hospital has been recognized as one of the best hospitals in the nation for 2016-17 in colon cancer surgery, lung cancer surgery, heart bypass surgery, aortic valve surgery, abdominal aortic aneurysm repair, hip replacement, knee replacement, heart failure and COPD by U.S. News & World Report.
For 2016-17, 153 hospitals were ranked in at least one specialty, while 1,628 received a high performing rating in one or more specialties, procedures or conditions. Only 63 hospitals swept the table, with high performing ratings in all nine types of care. Holy Cross is one of the 63.
“We could not achieve these distinctions without collaboration from all team members and the dedication to quality we show every day,” said Patrick A. Taylor, MD, president and CEO of Holy Cross Hospital. “I am deeply appreciative of the opportunity to serve as the leader of this fine healthcare ministry, where we look forward to continuing to improve the health of our community members and becoming their trusted health partner for life.”
U.S. News also ranked Holy Cross third in the Miami metro area and ninth in the state of Florida. This is the second consecutive year that Holy Cross has been ranked by U.S. News among the top three hospitals locally and top 10 statewide. In rankings by state and metro area, U.S. News recognized hospitals that were high-performing across multiple areas of care.
“U.S. News evaluates nearly 5,000 hospitals nationwide,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis at U.S. News. “A hospital that emerged from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of.”
