FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Dr. Patrick Taylor, President and CEO of Holy Cross, and philanthropist Jan Moran marked the official opening of the new Jan Moran Reception Suite in the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex with a ribbon cutting ceremony before a standing room only audience.
Nearly 200 community leaders and friends and colleagues of Mrs. Moran joined in the celebration of the opening of the Jan Moran Reception Suite. Members of the Deerfield Beach Boys & Girls Club – Jim & Jan Moran Unit serenaded guests when the doors opened following the ribbon cutting. During the reception, guests also were invited on guided tours of the Women’s Center.
“Jan is one of this community’s most ardent supporters of women, children and families,” said Dr. Taylor. “She has such a profound impact on South Florida and we are proud to have her as a partner with us in bringing exceptional services to women through the new Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center.”
Funded entirely through philanthropy, the $15 million, 55,000 square-foot Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center features advanced breast imaging including digital mammography, minimally invasive diagnostic procedures, stereotactic breast biopsy, bone density studies and ultrasonography. Phase I is now open and future plans include special programming, a medical spa, meditation chapel, lifestyle center, education center and a café. Mrs. Moran made a $1 million personal donation to the Center.
"I am so privileged to have my mother here today as we celebrate a Women’s Center that is dedicated to the compassionate care of the women in our community,” said Mrs. Moran. “The Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center will have a tremendous impact on the healthcare needs of women today and well into the future.”
At the Women’s Center, patients with abnormal findings will develop a one-on-one relationship with a "Patient Navigator" who will answer questions, coordinate care with the patient’s physician and connect patients to resources.
Mrs. Moran and her late husband Jim have a long history of supporting non-profit organizations that improve the lives of children and families.
