Worksite Wellness Award Header

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (July 24, 2014) – Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale has been honored with the Florida Fit Friendly Company Award from the Florida Department of Health in recognition of its successful worksite wellness program.

The award acknowledges efforts to educate and encourage individuals to make meaningful changes and adopt behavior toward wellness.  A valued non-profit provider of healthcare in the community, Holy Cross Hospital implemented a healthy lifestyle incentive program in 2010.

“As a healthcare provider we understand the value of proactively taking care of one’s health, and we educate our Associates on the right choices to make healthy living a priority,” said Holy Cross Hospital President and CEO Patrick A. Taylor, M.D.

Associates at Holy Cross can participate in a healthy lifestyle incentive program by engaging in various healthy activities and initiatives, which include completing preventative care measures, making lifestyle and behavior choices such as not smoking, and others. After completing activities, Associates provide documentation to qualify for an insurance contribution discount.

The healthy lifestyle incentive program is only one of the wellness programs Holy Cross Hospital offers along with health fairs, a smoke-free campus, healthy meal offerings in the cafeteria, healthy vending machines and ongoing health and wellness education.
