Holy Cross Hospital Names New Chief Nursing Officer
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (July 1, 2014) – Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale has promoted executive director of nursing Taren Ruggiero, RN, MSN, who began her career at the non-profit hospital 22 years ago, to Chief Nursing Officer.
In her new role, Ruggiero will be responsible for administering all aspects of nursing operations in accordance with the vision, mission, values of Holy Cross. She will work closely with Associates to provide excellence in patient care services as well as oversee development of patient care policies and procedures, standards of care and measurements to assess and improve patient outcomes.

Ruggiero came to Holy Cross in 1992 as a graduate nurse in the hospital’s intensive rehabilitation unit and later became the unit’s director. She was named executive director of nursing services when the position was first created in 2008.
Recognized for her passion toward patients, Ruggiero received the hospital’s Director of the Year Award in 2009 which recognized her leadership, inspiration to others, embrace of new responsibilities and innovative insights.
A Weston resident, Ruggiero is a member of the South Florida Organization of Nurse Executives, where she received a leadership award in 2007. She has served as the secretary of the South Florida Organization of Nurse Executives since 2010 and as a board member of the South Florida Nursing Consortium since 2011. She also is involved in numerous Holy Cross Associate drives and collections that benefit the community.
