Epicurean Escapade March 14 2015 Save the Date

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Holy Cross Hospital Auxiliary is proud to present "Epicurean Escapade 2015: A Food & Wine Experience," its 59th annual event, on Saturday, March 14 to benefit the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women's Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex. The culinary extravaganza begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Design Center of the Americas (DCOTA), located at 1855 Griffin Road in Dania Beach.

Epicurean Escapade will feature themed presentations of gourmet food and fine wine from exciting global culinary destinations such as Japan, Mexico, Northern California and the Southern United States. The evening will begin with a lavish cocktail reception in the scenic atrium of the DCOTA, followed by dinner and dancing to the live musical entertainment of the Jerry Wayne Party Band. More than 400 community leaders, physicians, healthcare professionals and guests are expected to attend.

Sports broadcaster and wine enthusiast Jimmy Cefalo, a former Miami Dolphin, will serve as the evening's emcee. A noted TV and radio personality for many years, Cefalo is the current host of Eat This Drink That Go!, a radio show dedicated to food, wine and travel that is broadcast on Clear Channel's NewsRadio WIOD 610.

Epicurean Escapade 2015 focuses on the generous community members whose contributions built the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center.  The evening honors the Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation and pays tribute to the Guerrieri Family Foundation, Jan Moran, Marti and Wayne Huizenga, the Women's Center Girlfriends Club, the Hudson Family Foundation and the Jeane M. Dorini Family.

The event also salutes AutoNation, Rita and Rick Case, Nancy Brown and the Fritch Foundation, Mary Short, Monica and Mike Maroone, Gail and Michael Kaplan, the Thomas G. DiPietro Foundation, and Joan and Charles Freizo, with special recognition to Doreen Koenig, Monica Maroone and Sheri Whittington for spearheading the Community Leaders Committee for the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center.

Serving as honorary chairs of the host committee are Drs. Sarita and Karan Munuswamy. Event sponsors include presenting sponsor the Guerrieri Family Foundation and beverage sponsor Bacardi.

“We are proud to honor the Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation for the organization's generosity and vision as the naming sponsor of the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women's Center and look forward to highlighting all the donors and community leaders whose support allowed us to open this one-of-a-kind center for women's health," said Michele Tapia, president of the Holy Cross Hospital Auxiliary.

The  $15 million Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center was built entirely through philanthropy, including nearly $2 million from the Auxiliary and more than $1 million from 200 women in the community who each pledged $5,000 as lifetime, founding members of the Women's Center's Girlfriends Club. A comprehensive, state-of-the-art facility where women receive excellent medical care in a soothing, spa-like environment, the 55,000-square-foot facility is located at 1000 N.E. 56th St. in Fort Lauderdale.
