Founded in 2001, the Saint
Luke Society is comprised of South Florida
physicians who, in conjunction with area hospitals
and medical associations, seek to enhance the
spiritual values of our profession.
Saint
Luke, the writer of the Gospel and the Acts of the
Apostles, was a physician and is considered the
patron saint of physicians. His writings
often report miracles and parables not found
elsewhere in scripture and reflect his own
commitment to respect for all persons, his concern
for the poor and social justice, and his hope for
God’s mercy and forgiveness for everyone.
Accordingly, the Mission of
this organization of faith-based physicians of all
denominations is to carry out the healing and
spiritual ministry of Saint Luke, by utilizing our
skills and talents to improve access to medical
care for the poor, to foster respect for all
persons, to provide support and assistance to our
colleagues and patients in
need.
The Society will host its
sixth annual event, a White Mass and Reception
on October 18, 2005 at the Holy Cross
Hospital Chapel, 4725 North Federal Highway
in
Fort Lauderdale. The Most Reverend John Noonan,
Auxiliary Bishop will celebrate our White Mass.
Your support can help the
St. Luke Society of South Florida blossom and
prosper. In this regard, we hope you will
join our select group of medical professionals as
a sponsor or participant.
