    Christina M. Gomez, MD

    Holy Cross Hospital President and CEO Patrick A. Taylor, M.D. announced that Christina M. Gomez, M.D. has joined the Holy Cross Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician employed group of more than 140 physicians providing services throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties.

    Dr. Gomez, formerly of the Palm Beach Institute of Hematology and Oncology, is board-certified in medical oncology. She has a disease-specific interest in gastrointestinal cancers.

  • 11 Year-Old Donates $600 to the Holy Cross Michael and Dianne Bienes Comprehensive Cancer Center

    Donation was made in honor of a friend who recently passed away

    The Holy Cross Hospital Michael and Dianne Bienes Comprehensive Cancer Center received an unexpected donation recently that was personal, heartfelt and lovingly made by an 11 year-old in remembrance of a family friend who passed away.

    Steve Langsenkamp, a close family friend of Kassidy Angelo’s family passed away following a battle with small-cell lung cancer. He was a patient at the Holy Cross Hospital Michael and Dianne Bienes Comprehensive Cancer Center.

  • Holy Cross Hospital Participates In Pioneering Lung Cancer Research

    In collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center

    Approximately 87 percent of all lung cancers are non-small cell (NSCLC), a disease in which malignant cells form in the tissues of the lung. Despite medical advances, the five year survival rate for patients diagnosed in any stage of NSCLC is just 15 percent and only two percent for those patients whose disease has metastasized and spread outside the lung.

    Luisa C. Gutman named as Chief Operating Officer

    Luisa C. Gutman has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Holy Cross Hospital. For the last 18 months, Gutman has served as Senior Vice President of Operations and Chief Human Resource Officer of Holy Cross Hospital. During that time she assumed increasing levels of operational responsibility for many strategic clinical service lines as well as support service departments within the hospital.

  • Dr. Jonathan Levy, Orthopedic Surgeon, Receives Honor

    Dr. Levy accepted into the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society

    FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (November 7, 2011) – Dr. Jonathan Levy, chief of orthopedics at Holy Cross Hospital and clinical director of the Holy Cross Orthopedic Research Institute, is the only physician in South Florida and only one of five in the state to be accepted into the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Society (ASES). He was nominated and accepted at a recent ASES meeting in White Sulphur Springs, W. Va.

    Marti Huizenga generously names meditation chapel and healing garden

    This winter, Holy Cross Hospital gratefully accepted a $750,000 donation from Marti Huizenga in support of the new Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex. The Marti Huizenga Meditation Chapel and Healing Garden, already underway as part of Phase 2 of the Women’s Center, is named in recognition of her generosity.

    FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Holy Cross Hospital is one of the first facilities in South Florida to utilize the MAGNETOM Skyra 3T MRI scanner from Siemens Medical Solutions which offers enhanced ability to customize patient scans, improved imaging and user capabilities that reduce exam times.

    Having received FDA clearance one year ago, the state-of-the-art scanner features 204 coil elements and 128 radio frequency channels to deliver a signal to noise ratio increase of up to 20 percent for clearer, more detailed images.
