  • High-Risk Patients Now Eligible for Transcatheter Heart Valve Replacements

    Following recent approval by the FDA, the hospital is now using leading edge surgery for high risk patients as well as inoperable patients

    Holy Cross Hospital is now performing transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) procedures for patients who have been deemed too high-risk to undergo open heart surgery.  The implantations are now done transfemorally (via the leg) and transapically (through the ribs).

    The third and final phase of the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex is now complete with the opening of the Patricia R. Guerrieri Pavilion.

    Thanks to a generous $4 million gift from the Guerrieri Family Foundation, the Pavilion offers community education rooms for groups varying in size from 10 to 150 people; a café and teaching kitchen; medical spa; lifestyle counseling rooms; art gallery; volunteer office; and additional physician suites.

    Chairs of the Holy Cross Golf Classic are Doreen Koenig and Sheri Whittington, who along with Monica Maroone, spearhead the Community Leadership Committee for the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center.
