Holy Cross Hospital Receives $1 Million Donation Dedicated to the Institute for Nursing Excellence
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Holy Cross Hospital has received a $1 million donation from Audrey Millsaps through the estate of her late husband Fred to expand The Institute for Nursing Excellence. The Institute was founded in 2006 with a $500,000 donation from the local philanthropists and long-time Fort Lauderdale residents to support the pursuit of excellence in nursing.

Relay For Life of Hope Inspires Kids to Take Up the Fight Against Cancer
The American Cancer Society’s Third Annual Relay For Life of Hope raised over $50,000 and inspired children of all ages to join the fight against cancer. Held May 21st and 22nd on the field at Christ Church United Methodist in Fort Lauderdale, Relay For Life of Hope was one of over 5,000 Relay For Life events across the country and internationally this year. Relay For Life is a 17-hour community event which brings people of all ages together to celebrate cancer survivors, remember those lost to cancer and to fight back against cancer.

Robert Kolodin of Tamarac wins $1,000 and free pass to ride Tri-Rail for one year
Fans looked on as the finalists of Holy Cross Hospital’s Senior Idol sponsored in part by Boomer Times, John Knox Village, Tri-Rail and Winn-Dixie sang their hearts out to an audience of nearly 1,000 at Parker Playhouse. Each of the contestants competed for the title, a $1,000 cash prize and pass to ride Tri-Rail for one year, but at the end of the fifth annual competition, Robert Kolodin of Tamarac took home the prize.

As a nutrition hostess in Nutritional Services at Holy Cross Hospital, Sunrise resident Queen Stevens interacts with patients, their families, physicians, nurses and volunteers on a daily basis, always greeting them with a smile and a positive attitude.
