EMERGENCY
Holy Cross Hospital cares for more than 40,000 patients annually in our Emergency Department, one of the busiest in Broward County. For everything from chest pain to a minor injury, our facilities and caring professionals offer world-class care.
The Chest Pain Center in our Emergency Department is a 6-bed Center that takes a systematic approach to patient management that reduces time to treatment during the critical early stages of a heart attack, when treatments are most effective. The Center also permits monitoring patients when it is not clear if they are having a coronary event.
When you are having a stroke, access to our Comprehensive Stroke Center is critical. The Comprehensive Stroke Center at Holy Cross is ranked Among the Top 5% of hospitals in the nation for Stroke Care and has received the highest possible star ratings for treatment of stroke. Holy Cross also was the first Broward County hospital to offer Induced Hypothermia, which has been shown to increase the odds of surviving a heart attack while decreasing the odds of brain damage after the attack..
The Emergency Department staff includes dedicated MDs, DOs, RNs, LPNs, EKG and Respiratory technicians and phlebotomists. A Spiritual Care Office located within the department gives immediate access to Chaplains.
All services in the Emergency Department are provided by Emergency Medical Staff Board Certified in Emergency Medicine. In keeping with our Core Values and Mission, treatment is available to everyone who seeks it. Upon discharge, patients receive detailed instruction on proper aftercare to ensure a speedy and healthy recovery.
We are known for providing the best care with compassion and expertise and have received the HealthGrades Distinguished Hospital Award for Patient Safety for 2008 and 2009. We understand an emergency is never convenient, but there´s no reason your emergency room experience shouldn´t be.
