Holy Cross Medical Group Adds Four Physicians
Holy Cross Hospital President and CEO Patrick A. Taylor, M.D. has announced that four physicians have joined the Holy Cross Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician employed group of more than 150 physicians providing services throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties.
"I am proud to welcome these four outstanding physicians to the Holy Cross Medical Group," Taylor said. "With expertise in family medicine, neurology, sports medicine and cardiology, they exemplify the comprehensive care and services offered by the Medical Group."
Karl Brot, M.D., F.A.A.F.P., Family Practice
Dr. Karl Brot is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Physicians, a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, and has been affiliated with Holy Cross Hospital's department of family practice since 1991. Dr. Brot serves as an assistant professor of family medicine at Nova South Eastern University and a preceptor for medical students at the University of Miami's department of family medicine. He also serves as an examiner for the Criminal Justice Institute of Broward County, the Department of Labor's vocational rehabilitation services division and the Department of Immigration. Dr. Brot received his medical and bachelor's degrees from the University of Toronto and completed his residency at North York General Hospital in Toronto. He is a resident of Fort Lauderdale.
Jennifer Carrasquillo, M.D., Neurology
Dr. Jennifer Carrasquillo, a clinical neurologist, joined the Holy Cross Medical Group from the University of Miami's department of neurology. She is board-certified in neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a member of the American Academy of Neurology, the American Epilepsy Society, and the American Medical Association. Dr. Carrasquillo completed a clinical neurophysiology fellowship and residencies in internal medicine and neurology at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she received the Resident of the Year award in 2011. She received her medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine and her bachelor's degree from the University of Florida. Dr. Carrasquillo is a resident of Miami Beach.
Fernando Manalac, M.D., M.M.M., Non-Surgical Orthopedics & Sports Medicine
Dr. Fernando Manalac is board-certified diplomat in internal medicine and sports medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine. He previously practiced non-surgical orthopedics and primary care sports medicine in Chicago, Illinois and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania serving as team physician for numerous professional, collegiate, and high school athletic teams. Dr. Manalac is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, and the American College of Sports Medicine. He completed a fellowship in primary care sports medicine, during which he served as an assistant team physician for the Pittsburgh Pirates, and his residency in categorical internal medicine at Allegheny General Hospital. Dr. Manalac received his medical degree from St. George's University School of Medicine and his master's degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University. He received his undergraduate degree from Robert Morris University in Coraopolis, PA while on a football scholarship. He is married to Maria Paola Loffreda-Mancinelli. They reside in Fort Lauderdale.
Daniel Weitz, M.D., Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology
Prior to joining the Holy Cross Medical Group, Dr. Daniel Weitz completed fellowships in clinical cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular disease at the New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at the Columbia University School of Medicine. Dr. Weitz received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine and his bachelor's degree from Boston University. He also served as an instructor in clinical medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College in New York. He is a member of the Heart Rhythm Society and the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Weitz received the Young Investigator Award from the American Heart Association in 2011 and has been published in several medical forums. Dr. Weitz resides in the Fort Lauderdale area.
