Holy Cross Hospital Names New Director of Pharmacy Services

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (August 15, 2014) – Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale has promoted Alissa Fuller to director of pharmacy services. Fuller, who has been with the non-profit hospital since 1992, most recently served as the interim director of pharmacy services. Previously, the Boca Raton resident served as clinical pharmacy director.

"Alissa has been instrumental in developing pharmacy and hospital practices to improve patient comfort and safety," said Holy Cross Hospital Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Taren Ruggiero, MSN, RN. "She serves on numerous medical and hospital advisory committees, and has provided educational seminars for physicians, pharmacists and nurses to promote best practices throughout the hospital."

In addition to her role at Holy Cross, Fuller also serves as a clinical assistant professor at Nova Southeastern University. She is a member of the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, American Society of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, and the Southeast Society of Hospital Pharmacists. She is a member of the board of directors of the FSHP Research and Education Foundation, and past president of the Florida Society of Health System Pharmacists.

Fuller's charitable experience includes working as a pharmacist on eight medical missions to the Nicaraguan jungle and she is a graduate of the Holy Cross Hospital Legacy Institute, which provides an in-depth look at the history of the Sisters of Mercy that sponsors Holy Cross Hospital and what it means to be a vital part of the rich tradition of Catholic healthcare organizations.

She received her bachelor's degree from University of Georgia and her doctor of pharmacy degree from Mercer University's College of Pharmacy in Atlanta.  She completed her clinical practice residency at University Medical Center in Jacksonville. Fla.
