Holy Cross Hospital Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women's Center Named Breast Imaging Center of Excellence

American College of Radiology
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - The Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex has been designated a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology (ACR).
In naming a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence, the ACR recognizes breast imaging centers that have earned accreditation in mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy and breast ultrasound (including ultrasound-guided breast biopsy).
“This designation is a testament to the experience and expertise of our board certified physicians and technicians, the state-of-the-art technology we offer and the world class facility we have opened in the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center,” said Dr. Patrick Taylor, president and CEO of Holy Cross Hospital. “This was a rigorous review process in which we exceeded the nationally accepted standards of care related to patient safety, image quality, assurances of radiation safety and, above all, our physicians and technicians.”
The accreditation was based on peer-review evaluations, conducted in each breast imaging modality by board certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They determined that the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center has achieved high practice standards in image quality, personnel qualifications, facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs.
The ACR is a national professional organization serving more than 34,000 diagnostic/interventional radiologists, radiation oncologists, nuclear medicine physicians and medical physicists with programs focusing on the practice of medical imaging and radiation oncology and the delivery of comprehensive health care services.
