Holy Cross Hospital Celebrates its Volunteers
Annual Volunteer Appreciation and Service Awards Luncheon
Holy Cross Hospital held its annual Volunteer Luncheon on April 21, 2011 – during National Volunteer Week -- to honor the hundreds of volunteers who generously share their time to help the hospital every day. Over 250 attendees came to celebrate at the wonderful luncheon held at Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale. The theme of the event was “Everyday is a Gift,“ and the room was dressed in purple and green, with gorgeous, lighted flower centerpieces which resembled presents. Abbie Klaits, Director of Volunteer Services, hosted the event and shared stories, submitted by the Volunteers, of their experiences at Holy Cross Hospital.Highlights from the luncheon included Service Awards to Maxine Holzworth for 20,000 hours, to Vincent Fornias for 30,000 hours and to Rosalie Carstens for 50,000 hours. The April 2011 Volunteer of the Month honor went to Kathleen O’Hara from the Case Management department. Dr. Patrick Taylor (President and CEO of Holy Cross Hospital) and Mr. John Johnson (President Emeritus) presented the award for the 2010-2011 Volunteer of the Year to co-honorees Jane Conti and Jean Bulfin for their outstanding work in the Thrift Shop.
Holy Cross Hospital is blessed with over 700 dedicated Volunteers who selflessly donate their time to help the hospital’s Associates every day.
