The Goodstart program provides monthly, in-service training opportunities to caregivers in Broward County. Some recent training topics include: Ages and Stages, Creating a Safe Environment, Diversity, Curriculum-planning, Child Abuse Awareness and Fitness for Kids. These courses are generally held on Saturday mornings at Holy Cross Hospital and are open to pre-registered participants at a very low cost. Registration forms are mailed monthly to day care centers and childcare homes in Broward County. To receive these materials please contact the Goodstart coordinator. Participants in these courses are not only awarded four contact hours (continuing education hours), but they usually have fun and learn something new and useful.

Broward Impact has senior volunteers who provide support and service to youth and children with special needs in a variety of settings. Foster Grandparents tutor and mentor children, and work on school readiness by helping children learn number and alphabet recognition. The Goodstart Grandparent program offers free seminars for these senior volunteers on a variety of childhood topics one morning per month.

If you or your school is interested in participating in the Goodstart program, please call 954-771-6778.
