Fort Lauderdale hospital is recognized for second consecutive year in 100 Top Hospitals listings by “Becker’s Hospital Review”
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (March, 4, 2014) – Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the “100 Hospitals With Great Orthopedic Programs” and “100 Hospitals With Great Women's Health Programs.” It is the second year in a row the programs were included in the rankings created by the monthly healthcare publication which provides business and legal news and analysis relating to hospitals and health systems.
To create the list recognizing orthopedic excellence, the magazine’s editorial staff weighed research it conducted as well as rankings and recognition from U.S. News & World Report, Healthgrades, CareChex and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
In placing Holy Cross Hospital on the list, Becker’s Hospital Review noted that it is “a pioneer in the specialty: its orthopedic team was the first in the world to use a robotic arm for partial knee resurfacing and the first in South Florida to use the tool for a total hip replacement.”
In a recent milestone, Holy Cross performed the first reverse shoulder replacement in the nation utilizing the recently FDA-approved Match Point System™, which is designed to assist surgeons in the precise positioning of the shoulder socket component.
Becker’s Hospital Review selected women’s health programs for its list based on clinical excellence, quality care and women's health awards. The list honors hospitals offering outstanding women's health programs, such as gynecology, obstetrics, reproductive medicine and other women's health needs.
The magazine highlighted the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women's Center at Holy Cross HealthPlex. The 55,000-square-foot Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center is a one-stop, state-of-the-art facility where women receive excellent treatment in a caring environment.
Holy Cross Hospital has full accreditation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, administered by the American College of Surgeons, after being one of the first 200 programs in the country to obtain that distinction.
