Our Team of Medical Professionals
In all of the departments of the Bienes Cancer Center, our physicians are supported by outstanding support specialists who assist in all aspects of patient care. These include:
Radiation Therapists:
Eight certified radiation therapists work together on the treatment machines and the CT and fluoroscopy simulators. The physics department is staffed by two Board certified physicists and three certified dosimetrists. Two oncology nurses work directly with the physicians and patient on a daily basis.
Infusion Therapists:
A team of oncology trained and oncology certified nurses work together with the onsite oncology pharmacists to carry out the physicians orders for all chemotherapy, blood transfusions, antibiotic treatments and other infusion services.
Oncology Office Team:
the office is staffed by a mix of administrative, financial and clinical staff members to support the physicians' practices. Each doctor has a certified medical assistant and an oncology certified nurse working with him or her in the office setting.
Inpatient Unit Staff:
Staffed by oncology trained and oncology certified nurses and other professionals the inpatient unit provides both private and semi-private rooms to meet the needs of cancer patients who require admission to the hospital.
Research Professionals:
a team of oncology certified and research certified RN's work with a data manager to assist physicians and patients in enrolling and participating in more than 100 clinical trials available at the Bienes Cancer Center.
Support Services:
The cancer center also has a master's prepared social workers, nutritionists, spiritual care chaplains, financial counselors, massage therapists, lymphedema therapists, exercise physiologists and a medical librarian working with the clinical team of professionals to provide all around support for the patient and their family.
Tumor Registry:
Certified Tumor Registrars working with state and national organizations to provide up to date information of the types and number of cancer patients and diagnosis are seen and treated at Holy Cross Hospital and the Bienes Cancer Center.
