Prevention of Medical Errors

Target Audience:

  1. Recognize and prevent common performance and diagnostic errors
  2. Describe the elements of a root cause analysis
  3. Identify risk management measures designed to prevent high-risk medical errors
  4. Meet the requirements set forth by FS 456.013(7)

Domestic Violence

Presentor: Laura L. Finley PhD

Target Audience:

This enduring material is intended for use by Allopathic and Osteopathic physicians.

Objectives:

1. Understand the scope of domestic violence as a social problem.

2. Recognize the physical and behavioral signs of abuse.

3. List specific ways domestic violence impacts victims and children

4. Become familiar with local resources for victims of abuse.

CREDIT HOURS:

Holy Cross Hospital is accredited by the Florida Medial Association to sponsor Continuing Medical Education activities.  Holy Cross Hospital designates this educational activity for a maximum of two AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM.(Prevention of Medical Errors)  one AMA PRA Category 1  Credits CreditsTM (Domestic Violence).  Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

**Participants must obtain a passing score of 70% or more in order to qualify for continuing medical education credit.**

HIV/Domestic Violence Course

OBJECTIVES:

  • To meet the continuing education requirement for Florida licensure.
  • To provide information on the number of patients in the physicians’ and other professionals’ practice who are likely to be victims or perpetrators of domestic violence.
  • To assist the physician in developing screening procedures for determining whether a patient has any history of being a victim or perpetrator.
  • How to provide patients with information on, or how to refer patients to resources in the local community, such as domestic violence centers and other advocacy groups, that provide local aid, shelter, victim counseling, batterer counseling, or child protection services.

The University of Miami School of Medicine designates this educational
activity for a maximum of two (2)  AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. each. The University of Miami School of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

**Participants must obtain a score of 70% or more in order to qualify for continuing medical education credit. The Division of Continuing Medical Education at University of Miami will issue a certificate of participation upon successful completion of the post-test. Fee: $50each**

Credit available for HIV through August 31, 2008  Domestic Violence through March 31, 2009
