Patient Information for X-Rays
You must register in the Hospital before your X-ray
Registration takes about 20 minutes and is done in the outpatient registration area or in the admitting area. Please go to the outpatient registration area on the east side of the hospital (facing Federal Highway) and you will be informed which area to go next. See the campus map
When you arrive in the X-ray Department...
When you arrive in the X-ray department, you will be asked wait until a room to be used for your X-ray examination is available. Depending on the type of X-ray examination you are to have, you may be asked to change into a gown so that no buttons, snaps, or metal will interfere with the examination. If you are to have skull or sinus X-rays, you will be asked to remove dentures, hairpins, earrings, or glasses. If you are pregnant, or think you may be pregnant, inform the technologist before any x-rays are taken.
After the X-ray...
After the X-ray technologist has completed your X-rays, you will be asked to return to the reception area. This is to give the technologist time to assemble your films and examine their quality. If no additional films are needed, you will be informed that it is all right to return to your room or to the clinic which requested the X-ray examination. A radiologist - a doctor who specializes in X-rays - will interpret your X-rays and report the results to your doctor, who in turn will discuss them with you.
Please remember...
Do not be disturbed if you see other patients and visitors come and go while you are in the X-ray department. Not all patients are having the same type of X-ray examination - different examination types require different amounts of time.
Smoking is not permitted.
If, in any way, we can be of further assistance to make your visit in our department more comfortable, please do not hesitate to ask any member of our dedicated staff.
